A lot of my friends have been getting pregnant lately. They known how seriously I take my research for kids stuff, so they all have been asking me for a list of my non-traditional must have items.
So I thought…and here they are:

1. Bath thermometer. For those of you who grew up in USSR, you probably have already experience “The RIGHT way” to bath with your mom. Well, I didn’t bath Misch, because I was terrified to burn him. So, I took a Canadian approach. A thermometer clearly showing the RIGHT temperature. Stop the continuous “elbow” check, it’s so good just to have your baby enjoy the perfect temperature and your attention to him/her not the water!
2. Bath seat. A perfect addition to any tub. It also fits in a cheap IKEA bathtub and saves lots of water and time! Your newborn can just lay there while you shower him/her. I am not cheap, but I find that bathtub maket is overated and you can easily get away with the seat for $12 and a bathtub $9. That bathtub also doubles for fast bathing until your baby is 2!
3. Nasal cleaner. What a game changer for boogers or running noses. With one or two blows, the baby can breath – this is a must have in my books!
4. Braun Thermometer. Sooooooo, I have probably tried over 20 different thermometer and all of them showed skewed my own temperature by almost one degree. Those ear and forehead were even a more of a nightmare where you cant figure out whether it is the right spot behind the ear or a right spot. Grrrrrr. And then Aliluah I found Philips. Take a perfect temperature. You choose an age range and it lights up the color (+temp) to show you whether it is acceptable temp for your baby. Super handy at night! And it takes less then 5 sec. to do the measurement!
5. Room thermometer. Measure properly room temperature and humidity levels. Trust me, the last thing you want to have is dry air and consequiently stuffed little nose.
6. Humidifier. Our babies are very sensitive to dry air. This is where I splurge, because I absolutely hated the look of standard humidifiers – nobody messes with my décor! Combined with my tiny temp/humidity thermometer, I know exactly when it’s time to turn it on.
7. Camera. If you are a control freak, you will need to get a camera! I am the mom who is so bad that even with camera I go once in a while to check if both are breathing. It's also my life hack now for playdates. Who needs an open door policy now:D.
8. Non-soiling pads/mattress protectors. These are awesome under the sheets, in the stroller once you start potty training, diaper change in the mall or literally anywhere.
9. Pain relief. For teething, I used Camilia by Boiron, which is a homeopathic medicine and it does work.
10. Muslin wraps. These are multi-use and absolutely awesome for creating shade in the stroller, breastfeeding while in public, as a towel and in many more other instances.Don't forget to check the link by clicking "muslin wraps" for my fave one!
One last tip, if you haven’t delivered yet. Take the spritzer bottle home and ask for one extra disposable panties at the hospital! They are to die for and I couldn’t find it at any store. So guess what was my second question after? “WHEN CAN I GO HOME”?:)
